Mario Party: Island Tour doesn’t have the strong theming that was present in the previous handheld outing, Mario Party DS. There are a few other elements that this game sadly lacks.
And because multiplayer is such a central part of the Mario Party experience, I should note that this game unfortunately lacks online play, but thankfully does support download play, meaning that all you need is one copy of the game no matter how many players want to play it (though each player will of course need to bring their own Nintendo 3DS). The same issue occurs on Mario Party: Star Rush and Mario Kart 7, although in Mario Kart 7, if I press Start when his name is flashing, it goes to a loading menu and gets stuck (while my cousin's end still says No software found). The issue in hand can be seen in this video. I have dumped System Archives, the "title" folder from my NAND, my config savegame, enabled DLP LLE via "View > Debugging > Toggle LLE Modules" (and so has my cousin). However, when I tried to use Download Play LLE it does not work: for me my cousin's username will keep flashing and then disappear while for him "No software found" will appear on the Download Play app. for Nintendo 3DS and Mario Party: The Top 100. I have been able to get Local Multiplayer to work for games like Super Smash Bros. To be able to connect to the same room in Citra, we use a VLAN software (Hamachi). I am trying to play Mario Party: Island Tour with my cousin using Download Play LLE.
